Perth Zoo

Perth Zoo at forefront of sustainability with 90.9 kW SunPower® solar installation

Just minutes from the heart of the city, Perth Zoo provides a beautiful natural haven, housing a diverse collection of around 190 species and 1100 animals. The overall objective of the facility is to secure long term populations of species in natural environments while engaging the community in global conservation actions and encouraging environmental responsibility.

As one of five iconic installations in the Perth Solar City program, Perth Zoo received both State and Federal Government funding to pursue one of its sustainability objectives. 303 ultra-efficient SunPower solar modules were installed on the roofs of various animal enclosures, the education centre and operational buildings within the zoo grounds. Perth Zoo is now Perth’s largest solar site and is committed to enhancing its renewable energy production over the next year in collaboration with SunPower.
